Featuring Afi Tengue, VP of Philanthropy and Impact, Giving Compass and Stephanie Gillis, Director, Impact-Driven Philanthropy Initiative at Raikes Foundation

There have been increasing calls for donors to unlock more capital from Donor-advised Funds (DAFs) in light of the pandemic. In June, Morgan Stanley hosted a presentation on the Raikes Foundation’s Impact-driven Philanthropy Initiative (IDP) and the Giving Compass approach to effective giving to more than 400 DAF holders. The event outlined the Giving Compass principles of IDP (equity, effectiveness, systems change, and transparency), nonprofit vetting criteria, and how Giving Compass frames the intended impact of donations (relief, rebound, reimagine and restructure) during COVID.

Panel: Black Future Co-Op Fund: Black Philanthropy Month
Featuring Afi Tengue, VP of Philanthropy and Impact, Giving Compass

In response to the recent social justice uprisings, corporations, foundations, and individuals made pledges to address anti-Black racism and improve equity. While some money has made it out the door, many who made commitments have yet to fulfill their promises. Giving Compass joined the conversation that delved into how words without action perpetuate anti-Black racism, what it will take to move beyond words to real change, and how to hold people, foundations, and corporations accountable.
Webinar: Disaster Philanthropy
Hosted by Afi Tengue, VP of Philanthropy and Impact, Giving Compass
Featuring Regine A. Webster, VP, Center for Disaster Philanthropy
