Launched September 2021

What does centering equity look like in philanthropy? In these Q&As, nine donors share their approach, lessons learned, and advice for other philanthropists. Featuring Jeff and Tricia Raikes, Farhad Ebrahimi, Susan Sandler, Armando Castellano, and others, this collection spotlights the ways philanthropy can effect change in a way that is equitable and builds powers in communities least well served.

Gamechangers
Launched January 2021

Gamechangers, the first photo series collection on Giving Compass, demonstrates the importance of investing in brilliant Latino nonprofit leaders and their organizations to bring about lasting change. The collection highlights how the Latino Community Foundation is making vital investments through its Latino Nonprofit Accelerator, a first-of-its-kind program that supports grassroots nonprofits with fundraising, networking, and marketing support.

Democracy & Informed Communities: Funding the News
Launched September 2021

In the 15 years leading up to 2020, more than one-fourth of the country’s newspapers disappeared, affecting 1,800 communities. But there is good news (no pun intended): Journalism-focused philanthropy has nearly quadrupled since 2009. With perspectives from Lumina Foundation, the Institute for Nonprofit News, and others, this collection includes guidance for donors who are interested in strengthening our democracy through robust local newsrooms that represent the communities they serve.

Conversations with Chanda
Launched May 2021

Intimate conversations about complex topics define Conversations with Chanda, hosted by Chanda Smith Baker, chief impact officer and SVP at the Minneapolis Foundation. Along with guests like Ibram X. Kendi and Jelani Cobb, Baker unpacks some of our country’s most difficult issues, examining racial inequity in philanthropy, oppressive systems that perpetuate wealth inequality, the importance of criminal justice reform, how to turn grief into action, and how to fight for a more equitable future for our country.
